WhoScored Tipster: The Smart Money in Buabook's Spurs-Arsenal Match Market
Following respective midweek defeats to West Ham and Swansea, Tottenham and Arsenal go at loggerheads once more this weekend in the latest installment of the North London Derby. With Spurs three points ahead of Arsenal and behind table-toppers Leicester by the same figure, the latest edition of the hotly-contested affair looks set to be one of the most important in recent memory.
Here, we will give our tips for the game in Buabook’s match market, with the potential to buy and sell shares in players for real cash. The concept is straightforward. An individual’s match value will rise live in-play based on their statistics.
In such a key fixture, it’s difficult to predict how the match market will fluctuate over the 90 minutes, but there is value to be had out there. Harry Kane is widely considered to be one of the best strikers in the Premier League and for good reason having bagged 16 goals in England’s top-flight this term. Furthermore, in the England international’s last 17 Premier League London derbies, Kane has bagged an impressive 13 goals, including three in his last two North London Derbies in the league.
Arsenal have been robbed of key defensive duo Petr Cech - who I’d look to sell shares in now - and Laurent Koscielny due to injury, which will further dent the Gunners' chances of ending their four-match winless run. Having lost their last three competitive outings, Arsenal need to turn their fortunes around if they are to haul themselves back into the title race, but are expected to struggle against this battling Spurs side.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have taken 16 points of a possible 18 in Premier League matches following competitive defeats this season, only dropping points in the 2-2 draw with Stoke back in August following the opening day loss to Manchester United. With Kane spearheading the club’s attack, Arsenal must be wary of the offensive threat he carries given his goalscoring outings against London-based opposition.
However, the goals have dried up of late for the 22-year-old. Kane hasn’t scored from open play in all competitions since his late strike in the 3-0 win over Norwich over a month ago and has scored just the once in his last six competitive outings, that coming from the penalty spot in the 2-1 win at Manchester City.
It’s for this reason why I’d be apprehensive about buying shares in Kane at anything above £0.40 ahead of this weekend’s North London Derby. While the stakes are high, Kane’s mini-drought is cause for concern, though with a goal worth £1.00 and an assist £0.60, it’s worth the risk given his previous against Arsenal.
Given Arsenal’s defensive woes, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone confident enough to not back Spurs to score at White Hart Lane in Saturday’s early kick off. As a result I would sell the remaining fit Gunners defenders before the game and continue selling after kick-off in this encounter, with the best value found in the attacking players at Pochettino’s disposal.
