Serie A striker upstages Ronaldo and takes top spot in European player form rankings

Ciro Immobile brought up his 100th Lazio goal in their landmark victory against AC Milan at the weekend to move into top spot as the most in-form player in Europe's top five leagues, WhoScored.com can reveal.

Lazio celebrated their first victory away to Milan in 30 years on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over their Serie A rivals, with Immobile getting on the scoresheet once again. The 29-year-old netted his 100th goal for the club in just 147 appearances and now has 13 goals in 11 league outings for the season.

Immobile's weighted WhoScored rating over Lazio's last six league appearances is 8.06, just enough to take first place in our player form rankings ahead of Gladbach sensation Marcus Thuram. Immobile has remarkably played a direct hand in 12 goals in Lazio's last six league matches (nine goals, three assists).

Alejandro Gomez occupied top spot in the last edition of our player form rankings followed by Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo. However, Gomez has tumbled out of the top-20 following Atalanta's shock 2-0 defeat at home to Cagliari, while Ronaldo drops down one place into third.

Marcus Thuram, 22, is the youngest representative in our player form rankings after surging into the top-10 to place just behind Immobile. Thuram, who is the son of former World Cup winner Lilian, has played a direct hand in nine goals in Gladbach's last six matches (five goals, four assists). Furthermore, Thuram has scored and assisted in successive league matches for the Bundesliga outfit and picked up the WhoScored Man of the Match award in both games.

Leicester trio Jamie Vardy, Wilfred Ndidi and James Maddison have all moved up the standings, with the former pair improving their position from last week and Maddison breaking into the top-10. The Foxes are now in a great position to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League after opening up a six point lead over fifth.

Vardy is the top scorer in the Premier League this season (10) and has seven of those have come in his last six appearances. The former England international netted a hat-trick in their 9-0 win away to Southampton to earn a perfect WhoScored 10 rating in that time. Maddison and Ndidi, meanwhile, have established their status as two of the most promising young midfielders in the division in the last month.

24-year-old Denis Bouanga completes the top-10 and is also an unknown quanity in our latest player form rankings. The Saint-Etienne attacker has been in tremendous form of late for the Ligue 1 outfit, earning the WhoScored Man of the Match award in each of his last four appearances. Bouanga has two goals and one assist in that time.
