Now, here are our three tips ahead of gameweek two in the Premier League.
Adrian (Liverpool) - 4.5M
It wasn’t long ago that Adrian was training with a team in Spain’s sixth-tier after being released by West Ham at the end of last season but so much has changed in such a short space of time. Signed on a free transfer by Liverpool at the end of the window, Adrian is remarkably the club’s first-choice goalkeeper for the next few weeks, as Alisson recovers from a calf injury.
Adrian proved Liverpool’s hero on his first start for the club, saving the decisive penalty in their shoot-out victory over rivals Chelsea in Wednesday night’s dramatic UEFA Super Cup. For someone that wasn’t expected to play much this season, the supporters already see the Spaniard as a legend.
The 32-year-old will make his full league debut for Liverpool on Saturday when Jurgen Klopp’s side face Southampton. Liverpool’s defence may not look as strong as last season but he represents a cheap option with a high potential for clean sheet bonuses.
Christian Pulisic (Chelsea) - 8.0M
Christian Pulisic was surprisingly only named as a substitute in Chelsea’s opening weekend 4-0 defeat to Manchester United but the United States captain proved what a talent he is during the club’s UEFA Super Cup defeat to Liverpool in midweek.
Pulisic drove Chelsea forward in the way Eden Hazard used to do with such ease and supplied a fantastic assist for Olivier Giroud to give Frank Lampard’s side the lead in Istanbul. The 20-year-old was denied a sensational first Chelsea goal by VAR before being withdrawn from the action in the 74th-minute.
Lampard no doubt had an eye on Sunday’s Premier League encounter with Leicester and it would be a surprise if the American starlet didn’t make his full league debut for the Blues. He should be a big player for Chelsea this season.
Neal Maupay (Brighton) – 5.0M
Glenn Murray led the line in Brighton’s opening Premier League fixture but it wasn’t until summer signing Neal Maupay and Florin Andone were introduced that Graham Potter’s side really clicked into gear against Watford.
Brighton ran out 3-0 winners in the end and Maupay tucked away a debut goal less than 10 minutes after coming on. Only Teemu Pukki (38) played a direct hand in more goals than Maupay (33) in the Championship last season and the 23-year-old looks a shrewd pick-up by Brighton for £20m.
Forcing Murray out of the first-team picture at Brighton may be a gradual process for Potter but there is no doubt Maupay has been signed to become first choice at the Amex Stadium. At just 5.0M on Fanteam Fantasy Football he could prove a bargain.
