Super Son leads Tottenham trio in Premier League Team of the Week
After back-to-back 5-0 victories, Marco Silva’s Fulham are the dominant side in this week’s Premier League best XI, with four representatives. Elsewhere, players from Burnley, Tottenham, Bournemouth and Everton also make the cut.
James Trafford (Burnley) - 8.73
Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford recorded his highest rated performance of the season to earn the player of the match award in the Clarets’ 1-1 draw at Brighton on Saturday afternoon. The England U21 international made a total of 10 saves at the Amex Stadium, the most any shotstopper has made in a Premier League match this season, to earn a WhoScored rating of 8.73.
Pedro Porro (Tottenham) - 8.39
Tottenham right-back Pedro Porro continued his good form, and put in his best display of the season in Sunday’s 4-1 win over Newcastle. Porro made a total of four tackles and interceptions combined, one clearance and three key passes, one of which found Richarlison for the home side’s third goal of the afternoon. The 24-year-old also made three accurate crosses, as well as two accurate through balls, to land a WhoScored rating of 8.39.
Marcos Senesi (Bournemouth) - 8.48
Bournemouth’s remarkable run of form continued against Manchester United on Saturday afternoon, as Andoni Iraola’s side ran out 3-0 winners at Old Trafford. Argentinian defender Marcos Senesi, who has started each of his team’s last five games, made it back-to-back matches with a goal and a clean sheet when he headed home from a Marcus Tavernier corner after 73 minutes. Senesi also made three tackles and interceptions combined, eight clearances, three blocks and four accurate long balls on his way to a WhoScored rating of 8.48.
Tosin Adarabioyo (Fulham) - 8.44
26-year-old defender Tosin Adarabioyo started just his second Premier League match of the season on Sunday, as Fulham swept West Ham aside to make it consecutive 5-0 wins in the space of four days. Adarabioyo, who started both of those victories, chipped in with a goal against the Hammers, while also winning four aerial duels and making two interceptions and five clearances, to return a WhoScored rating of 8.44.
Vitalii Mykolenko (Everton) - 7.79
Everton left-back Vitalii Mykolenko continues to impress under Sean Dyche, and his performance at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon helped the Toffees to a third successive win and clean sheet at Chelsea's expense. Mykolenko made a total of seven tackles, as well as six clearances and two blocks, to post a WhoScored rating of 7.79, his third highest of the season, in what has been a campaign to remember so far.
Despite coming on as a half time substitute, Wales international Harry Wilson made the most of his time on the pitch against West Ham on Sunday, finding the net after just 15 minutes on the pitch. Wilson also went on to provide an unselfish assist for Carlos Vinicius to add Fulham’s fifth of the afternoon in the 89th minute, as he registered a WhoScored rating of 8.25, his highest so far this season.
Lewis Cook (Bournemouth) - 8.66
Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook joins his Cherries teammate Marcos Senesi in this week’s best XI after the south coast side’s impressive display at Old Trafford. Cook made a smart run in behind the Manchester United defence before finding a fine pass for Dominic Solanke to tap home after just five minutes. The 26-year-old battled well in midfield in Manchester, making a total of eight tackles and interceptions combined, along with three key passes, to land a WhoScored rating of 8.66.
Andreas Pereira (Fulham) - 8.24
Fulham’s third representative is midfielder Andreas Pereira, who brought his tally of goal contributions so far this season to five against West Ham on Sunday. The Brazilian provided the assist for Tosin Adarabioyo to head home shortly before half time, while also making two tackles and five key passes on his way to a WhoScored rating of 8.24, which can only be bettered this season by his performance in midweek. It's not been a bad week for the 27-year-old.
Son Heung-Min (Tottenham) - 9.50
Spurs captain Son Heung-Min moved back to the left-side for the first time in 12 matches, and the result was his second-best performance of the season so far. Son assisted both of the home side’s goals before half time, before finding the net himself from the penalty spot after 85 minutes. The 31-year-old also made a total of four key passes and three successful dribbles, as he returned a WhoScored rating of 9.50 to take home the player of the week award.
Richarlison (Tottenham) - 8.85
Brazilian striker Richarlison had not scored in any of the 19 Premier League matches he had started for Tottenham, until Sunday, when he found the net twice on his full return from injury. The 26-year-old moved into a central attacking role, having played on the left earlier this term, and looked all the better for it, completing his brace shortly after half time to register a WhoScored rating of 8.85.
Fulham’s fourth and final representative in this week’s best XI is striker Raul Jimenez, whose career in west London looks to have finally got up and running this week. Fresh from a two-goal display against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening, Jimenez opened the scoring against West Ham midway through the first half on Sunday, to make it four goals in his last five Premier League matches. The Mexican attacker also made two key passes and one accurate through ball against the Hammers to earn a WhoScored rating of 8.42.
