REVEALED: Liverpool and Chelsea attackers shine in Saturday's action

 

West Ham 1-0 Arsenal: Declan Rice (8.29 rating) 

 

West Ham ended their dire run against Arsenal with a 1-0 win in Saturday’s early kick off as Declan Rice’s strike three minutes into the second half proved to be the difference between the two teams. Rice became the first teenager since 2009 to score a Premier League goal for the Hammers as he returned a WhoScored rating of 8.29. Brighton 0-1 Liverpool: Mohamed Salah (7.87 rating) 

 

Liverpool moved seven points clear at the top of the table as they ground out a 1-0 win at Brighton. Mohamed Salah again was the difference maker for the Reds as he bagged a second half penalty to take his total for the Premier League season to 14. The Egyptian could’ve had himself an assist had his teammates sported their shooting boots as he made three key passes while an additional three successful dribbles returned a WhoScored rating of 7.87. 


Burnley 2-1 Fulham: Ashley Barnes (7.63 rating) 

 

Fulham scored three times at Turf Moor on Saturday yet fell to a 2-1 loss as own goals from Denis Odoi and Joe Bryan consigned them to another defeat. Ashley Barnes may not have gotten on the scoresheet in Burnley’s 2-1 win, yet he did enough to land a WhoScored rating of 7.63 as he won six aerial duels, made three key passes and four tackles to give the Cottagers backline a torrid afternoon. 

 

 

Cardiff 0-0 Huddersfield: Philip Billing (8.30 rating) 

 

Huddersfield brought to an end their losing streak with a hard fought 0-0 draw at Cardiff. The Terriers remain rooted to the foot of the table, but snapping that negative run will boost confidence. Danish midfielder Philip Billing was crucial in the stalemate as he won 13 aerial duels, made four clearances, two interceptions and two tackles to land the WhoScored man of the match award with an 8.30 rating. 


Crystal Palace 1-2 Watford: Adrian Mariappa (7.78 rating) 

 

Crystal Palace threw away their one-goal lead to lose 2-1 to Watford at Selhurst Park, with the Hornets battling back valiantly to secure all three points. A solid defensive rearguard was crucial with Adrian Mariappa inspiring in defence. The 32-year-old won seven aerial duels in the victory in south London, while eight clearances, three interceptions and three tackles contributed towards Mariappa’s man of the match award as he landed a 7.78 rating. 

 

Leicester 1-2 Southampton: Jan Bednarek (8.08 rating) 

 

Southampton defended impressively to secure a 2-1 win at Leicester, particularly after going down to 10 men on the stroke of half time. It was a fine defensive showing from Jan Bednarek, who produced a fine clearance off the line when Saints were 1-0 up with 10 minutes of the first half still to go. Seven aerial duels won, 12 clearances and three shots blocked highlighted a fine rearguard showing as the Pole landed a WhoScored rating of 8.08, winning the man of the match award in the process. 


Chelsea 2-1 Newcastle: Pedro (8.29 rating) 

 

In the final game of the day, Chelsea closed the gap on Tottenham in third, but made hard work of their welcome of Newcastle. Willian scored the decisive goal in the victory, however it was Pedro who stole the plaudits for the home side as he secured the WhoScored man of the match award with an 8.29 rating. The Spaniard set Chelsea on their way with a well taken finish 10 minutes in and hit the target with each of his four shots on goal. Two tackles and two interceptions contributed to his fine showing for the Blues at Stamford Bridge.
