Record breaking Salah makes Champions League team of the week
Mohamed Salah made history in midweek and he is, along with Roberto Firmino, one of two Liverpool players to make the Champions League team of the week. Tottenham, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also represented in the best XI.
Simon Mignolet (Club Bruges) - 9.42
Club Bruges are the only team yet to concede a goal in the Champions League group stages with Simon Mignolet in inspired form against Atletico Madrid in midweek. The Belgian shotstopper made an impressive nine saves in the 0-0 draw in Madrid, as Mignolet returned a WhoScored rating of 9.42.
Daniel Sundgren (Maccabi Haifa) - 7.76
Maccabi Haifa piled further misery upon this downtrodden Juventus side as they earned a 2-0 win over the Italian outfit. Daniel Sundgren is the first of two representatives for the Israeli side as he earned a WhoScored rating of 7.76. The Swede made six tackles and six clearances as he helped the Greens to a clean sheet and a historic victory.
Tanguy Nianzou (Sevilla) - 8.17
Sevilla were destroyed by Borussia Dortmund last week, but made amends with a 1-1 draw in midweek as Tanguy Nianzou put in a man of the match display. The Frenchman scored the opener in Germany and was sound defensively as he made five clearances and two tackles as he landed a WhoScored rating of 8.17.
Antonio Rudiger (Real Madrid) - 8.58
Like Nianzou, Rudiger also scored in midweek, and sustained a nasty head injury for his troubles. Having been forced off in second half injury time, the German made five clearances, four tackles and three interceptions to partner Nianzou at the heart of the defence with a WhoScored rating of 8.58.
David Raum (RB Leipzig) - 7.97
Rounding off the defence is RB Leipzig left-back David Raum as he garnered a WhoScored rating of 7.97. The German was unfortunate not to register an assist in their 2-0 win at Celtic as he made two key passes, and he worked hard off the ball, too, as he made three tackles and two clearances.
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) - 9.32
Mohamed Salah wrote his name into the record books in Liverpool's 7-1 win at Rangers as he scored the quickest hat-trick in Champions Legaue history at Ibrox. Salah came off the bench to hit the back of the net with three of four shots as he features on the right with a WhoScored rating of 9.32.
Omer Atzili (Maccabi Haifa) - 8.84
Maccabi Haifa's match winner against Juventus, Omer Atzili netted both goals in the win over the Old Lady as he beat Wojciech Szczesny with two of four shots. The midfielder also made two tackles and one interception to make the side with a WhoScored rating of 8.84.
Leon Goretzka (Bayern Munich) - 8.52
Joining Atzili in the middle of the park is Bayern Munich's Leon Goretzka with a WhoScored rating of 8.52. After a slow start to the season, Son Heung-Min is beginning to find form as he netted twice in Tottenham's 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. Son bagged a first half brace from a total of five shots, while an additional two dribbles meant the South Korean was good value for his inclusion with a WhoScored rating of 9.02.
Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona) - 9.60
Barcelona and Inter played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at Camp Nou on Wednesday night with Robert Lewandowski bagging a late brace. The summer signing hit the back of the net with two of eight shots and was a menace for the Inter backline, winning five aerial duels, to return a WhoScored rating of 9.60.
Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) - 9.65
Saving the best until last, Roberto Firmino is the Champions League player of the week with a WhoScored rating of 9.65. Firmino was directly involved in three of Liverpool's seven goals at Rangers as he netted either side of half time and provided the assist for Darwin Nunez's second half strike. Those came from respective returns of two shots and three key passes to cap a fine showing.
