Player Ratings: Smash and grab Spurs surprise Manchester City

Tottenham were outshot by Manchester City 18-3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, yet goals from debutant Steven Bergwijn and fan favourite Son Heung-Min saw Spurs secure a 2-0 win over City in Sunday's late kick off. 

Tottenham - 7.18 

Hugo Lloris - 8.60: Saved a first half Ilkay Gundogan penalty, and thought he'd given away a second, only for VAR to overrule Mike Dean. The penalty stop was one of five saves from the Spurs captain, who earned the WhoScored man of the match award. 

Serge Aurier - 7.14: Gave away a first half penalty for a foul on Sergio Aguero, but recovered well to his credit. Made seven tackles all in all as he continues to churn out these Jekyll and Hyde showings. 

Toby Alderweireld - 7.45: Made a vital goalline clearance shortly after the restart as he put in an assured performance at the heart of the defence.  

Davinson Sanchez - 7.18: Not a stand out display by any means. Was beaten far too easily for Sergio Aguero's first half effort that cannoned off the post. That said, he was often in the right place at the right time to alleviate pressure on the Spurs goal as he made 10 clearances. 

Japhet Tanganga - 7.90: Another mature display from the young defender, who continues to go from strength to strength. Firmly deserves his place in this XI as he made four tackles, three interceptions and four clearances to shine once more. 

Harry Winks - 7.19: The birthday boy put in arguably one of his best performances of the season. Having struggled for form, today's display would have done his confidence the world of good. 

Giovani Lo Celso - 6.90: Not a vintage display from the Argentine, whose loan move was made permanent last week. Picked up a silly booking for a lazy challenge on Kyle Walker in the second half. 

Son Heung-Min - 7.51: Netted Tottenham's second with a well taken finish, that coming from one of two shots. Not a standout performance, but he once again did enough to help Spurs to all the spoils. 

Dele Alli - 6.38: Made some clever runs in behind the Manchester City backline, but mistimed his runs more than once. A disappointing performance from the midfielder, who has been in great form since Jose Mourinho took over. On the receiving end of a hard Raheem Sterling tackle early on, which may have affected his performance. 

Steven Bergwijn - 7.63: Thrown in at the deep end by Jose Mourinho, he quickly endeared himself to the home support by dispossessing former Tottenham defender Kyle Walker. Scored his first Premier League goal with a well taken finish on the hour mark to announce himself to English football before coming off with 20 minutes to play. 

Lucas Moura - 7.44: Provided the assist for Steven Bergwijn's goal and routinely made a nuisance of himself in the final third. Completed two dribbles and made one tackle in the 2-0 win. 

Subs: Tanguy Ndombele - 6.94, Erik Lamela - 6.15, Eric Dier - 6.13 

Manchester City - 6.31 

Ederson - 5.82: Could do little for the two goals, but in turn faced only three shots on target over the 90 minutes. 

Kyle Walker - 7.04: His afternoon was made tougher by Zinchenko's red card, yet he used his pace to good effect. Perhaps one of City's best players on the day. 

Fernandinho - 7.15: Played Son onside for Tottenham's second goal in a rare error of judgement from the Brazilian. That being said, the experienced midfielder was on hand to make three tackles and complete three dribbles. 

Nicolas Otamendi - 6.31: Stepped up at the wrong time to try and deny Tottenham's second. Proved once again that he is not good enough to be a long-term starter for City. 

Oleksandr Zinchenko - 5.49: Dismissed on the hour mark for his second yellow in a sending off that changed the game as Spurs opened the scoring three minutes later. 

Ilkay Gundogan - 6.01: Saw a first half penalty saved by Hugo Lloris and then blazed over from close range shortly after the interval. 

Rodri - 5.66: Failed to dictate the tempo in the middle of the park. Only 66 of his 74 passes found a teammate in a sub-par display from the Spaniard as he struggled with Spurs' quick counter attacks. 

Kevin De Bruyne - 6.40: If City were going to score, it was going to come via the Belgian. While not a perfect performance from De Bruyne, three of the 12 goalscoring chances created over the 90 minutes were courtesy of the assist machine. 

Riyad Mahrez - 6.72: Well marshalled by Japhet Tanganga prior to his second half withdrawal. Could have been a very different story had he been gifted more space as he completed two dribbles and made two key passes. 

Sergio Aguero - 6.75: Was lively in the first half, but did everything but put the ball in the back of the net as he had five shots in the opening 45 minutes. Only managed one further effort on goal after the break before going off as his Golden Boot pursuit suffered a hitch. 

Raheem Sterling - 6.30: Could have been sent off in the first half. Saw yellow for a foul on Dele Alli and was then somewhat lucky to not receive a second following Ilkay Gundogan's penalty miss. One of City's worst performers at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
