Chelsea goal machine Palmer makes Premier League Team of the Week

 

With another weekend of Premier League action behind us, we’ve taken a look at the standout performers from gameweek 28. Included in our Team of the Week are players from Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Sheffield United, Bournemouth and Chelsea. 

 

Andre Onana (Manchester United) - 8.23 

 

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana kept an eighth clean sheet of the season in Saturday’s victory over Everton. The Cameroon international was forced into a total of six saves, while he also made two successful high claims on his way to a WhoScored rating of 8.23. 

 

Ben White (Arsenal) - 7.77 

 

Arsenal defender Ben White, fresh off the back of his second goal of the season against Sheffield United last week, was involved in both of the Gunners’ goals in a crucial 2-1 victory over Brentford on Saturday. The former Brighton and Leeds man whipped in inch-perfect crosses for Declan Rice and Kai Havertz to head home in either half, while he also made one tackle and three key passes to return a WhoScored rating of 7.77. 

 

Cristian Romero (Tottenham) - 7.90 

 

Tottenham vice-captain Cristian Romero helped his team to a huge 4-0 win at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon, and three points that could prove pivotal in the race for Champions League football. The Argentinian defender made three tackles, three interceptions, two clearances and one block to help Ange Postecoglou’s side to a first Premier League clean sheet since December, and himself to a WhoScored rating of 7.90. 

 

Jack Robinson (Sheffield United) - 8.13 

 

Sheffield United defender Jack Robinson netted his first ever Premier League goal at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, but the Blades - who had gone two goals up - were made to pay as Bournemouth fought back to earn a point. After a tough few weeks at the heart of defence, Robinson turned in a fine display, making three tackles, three interceptions, eight clearances, two blocks and one key pass, while also winning three aerial duels, to land a WhoScored rating of 8.13. 

 

Dango Ouattara (Bournemouth) - 8.28 

 

22-year-old Bournemouth star Dango Ouattara was instrumental in the Cherries earning a point against Sheffield United at the weekend; the Burkina Faso international was involved in both of the home side’s second-half strikes, having only joined the action at the interval. To go with his goal and assist, Ouattara also made three key passes and three successful dribbles on his way to a WhoScored rating of 8.28. 

 

Cole Palmer (Chelsea) - 8.47 

 

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer became the first Premier League player to both score and assist in five different matches this season when he helped his side to victory against Newcastle on Monday. Palmer, who has now registered 19 goals involvements in the league this season, also made three tackles, three key passes and two successful dribbles to return a WhoScored rating of 8.47.

Ryan Christie (Bournemouth) - 8.02 

 

Bournemouth midfielder Ryan Christie registered his third assist of the season when his corner found the head of Dango Ouattara after 74 minutes against Sheffield United. The Scotland international also made one tackle and one interception, as well as an impressive five key passes; no Bournemouth player has made more in a league match this season. 

 

Declan Rice (Arsenal) - 7.97 

 

Arsenal star Declan Rice continued his remarkable form in the Gunners’ win over Brentford at the weekend, scoring in back-to-back league matches for the very first time. He also won a total of six aerial duels, made one tackle and completed one dribble to post a WhoScored rating of 7.97. 

 

Brennan Johnson (Tottenham) - 8.17 

 

Spurs winger Brennan Johnson registered his highest rated performance of the season so far in Sunday’s thrashing of Aston Villa. The 22-year-old notched a fourth league goal of the season, while he also made two tackles and completed four dribbles to earn a WhoScored rating of 8.17.  

 

David Datro Fofana (Burnley) - 8.32 

 

Chelsea loanee David Datro Fofana fired home a goal of the season contender at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon as Burnley put an end to a run of four consecutive defeats with a 2-2 draw at West Ham. The Ivorian, who now has three league goals to his name since arriving at Turf Moor in January, also made two tackles and five successful dribbles to register a WhoScored rating of 8.32.

 

Heung-Min Son (Tottenham) - 9.35 

 

With a WhoScored rating of 9.35, Tottenham star Heung-Min Son is our Premier League Player of the Week after an outstanding showing at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon. The Spurs captain was involved in three of his side’s four second-half goals, scoring one and providing assists for both Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner. Son - who is now overperforming his Expected Goals total by 5.40 - found the net with one of two attempts on goal, while he also made one tackle, two key passes and one successful dribble.
