Premier League round-up: Hazard continues to dazzle for Chelsea
Eden Hazard has arguably been the best player in the world since the 2018 World Cup. He failed to secure a dream move to Real Madrid in the summer but is now playing the best football of his career under new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.
The Belgium international has scored or assisted in all but one of his eight league appearances this season and at the weekend he did both. Hazard opened the scoring in a 3-0 win away to Southampton before providing the pass for Alvaro Morata to confirm all three points in the dying embers.
Hazard created three further goalscoring opportunities and drew three fouls in another WhoScored Man of the Match performance. The 27-year-old garnered a WhoScored rating of 9.05 from his latest showing, but it wasn’t enough to secure top spot from the weekend’s Premier League action.
Bournemouth have made a similarly impressive start to the season and that continued at the weekend with a shock 4-0 win away to Watford, with Joshua King impressing for the Cherries. The Norway international scored twice, hitting the target from three of his four shots on goal.
King also won two aerial duels and registered one key pass on his way to scoring a WhoScored rating of 9.34 for Eddie Howe’s side. Rounding off the top three highest rated players from gameweek eight in the Premier League is Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette.
The France international has been in stunning form for the Gunners since finally working his way into favour under new boss Unai Emery, adding two more goals to his collection in a 5-1 win over Fulham on Sunday.
Lacazette has now scored or assisted in each of his last five appearances for the Gunners, earning a WhoScored rating of 8.90 on his latest showing.
While the aforementioned trio flourished this weekend, the same cannot be said for Watford’s Christian Kabasele (4.39). The 27-year-old was shown his marching orders just 32 minutes into Watford’s mauling at the hands of Bournemouth.
Kabasele has now been sent off twice in his last three appearances, albeit his first dismissal was eventually rescinded. To make matters worse for the Hornets, not only was the 27-year-old shown a second yellow for conceding a penalty, King converted the subsequent spot kick.
