Team form guide: Arsenal rise up the rankings as Man City surrender top spot

The drab draw between Liverpool and Manchester City has had a significant impact on this week’s team form rankings, with the latter surrendering top spot and the former dropping out of the top ten altogether.

It’s Paris Saint-Germain that now lead the way across Europe’s top five leagues after an emphatic 5-0 win over Lyon courtesy of four second half goals from Kylian Mbappe. The Ligue 1 champions have won their first nine league matches, scoring 23 times over the last six that come into consideration here.

Manchester City only drop to second spot despite their stalemate at Anfield, conceding just twice over their last six matches, but Juventus are now hot on their heels in third after a faultless start to the season is Serie A, recording an eighth consecutive win on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund recorded a second successive league defeat from a losing position to stretch their lead at the top of the Bundesliga, with Paco Alcacer proving to be a super sub once more with a hat-trick from the bench in a 4-3 win over Augsburg. Only PSG have scored more goals over their last six matches than the current German league leaders (19).

Elsewhere Arsenal rise to fifth after a sixth consecutive league win, also romping to victory in the second half at Fulham and extending their winning streak in all competitions to nine.

Unai Emery’s men are followed closely by RB Leipzig, who stormed to a 6-0 win over Nurnberg at the weekend, while Wolves are up eight places into seventh having picked up 14 points from the last 18 available, leapfrogging Chelsea, who remain eighth.

Ligue 1 duo Montpellier and Bordeaux complete the top ten, with the former now unbeaten in eight games following a draw at Guingamp, while the latter recorded a third win in four and third consecutive clean sheet as they beat Nantes 3-0 at the weekend.

Barcelona fall to 13th after another draw, this time at Valencia, while Real Madrid’s last gasp defeat to Deportivo Alaves relegates them to 27th and Bayern are down to 30th after a heavy 3-0 defeat at home to Borussia Monchengladbach.
