Man City dribble machine Doku stars in U21 Team of the Month

 

Manchester City star Jeremy Doku is the U21 player of the month having excelled for the Premier League champions in November. Lille are the dominant side with three players, while Luton, Verona, Bayer Leverkusen, Gladbach, RB Leipzig, Frosinone and Monza are also represented. 

 

Lucas Chevalier (Lille) - 6.92 

 

Lille's young shotstopper Lucas Chevalier conceded just the one league goal in November, and kept commendable clean sheets in meetings with Marseille and Lyon. A total of eight saves was modest to help the 22-year-old to a WhoScored rating of 6.92. 

 

Tiago Santos (Lille) - 7.78 

 

The second of three Lille players in the side, Tiago Santos was excellent for the French side in November as noted by a WhoScored rating of 7.78. The young right-back scored his first league goal of the season in November, and ranked seventh for tackles and interceptions combined (16) in Ligue 1. 

 

Teden Mengi (Luton) - 7.20 

 

Luton's Teden Mengi makes the cut at centre-back after an impressive November that saw him bag his first league goal of the season, that coming in the Hatters' 2-1 home win over Crystal Palace last weekend. Mengi made more clearances (25) than any other player in the Premier League in November to sencure his spot in the side. 

 

Leny Yoro (Lille) - 7.17 

 

Partnering Mengi at the back is the third Lille representative. Leny Yoro netted his second league goal of the season in November, that coming in the 1-1 draw with Toulouse, and protected his side's goal well as he made six tackles and interceptions combined and six clearances. 

 

Filippo Terracciano (Verona) - 6.93 

 

Rounding off the backline is Verona Filippo Terracciano. The 20-year-old registered his first league assist of the campaign in November, that coming in Monday's 2-2 draw with Lecce, with the sole assist coming from three key passes. In addition, Terracciano made 10 tackles and interceptions combined to feature.

Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen) - 7.60 

 

Making the U21 team of the month once again is Bayer Leverkusen's creative star Florian Wirtz. Wirtz completed more dribbles (12) than any other player in the Bundesliga in November and made six key passes to make the XI with a WhoScored rating of 7.60. 

 

Rocco Reitz (Gladbach) - 7.40 rating 

 

Featuring alongside Wirtz in the middle of the park is Gladbach's Rocco Reitz, who returned a WhoScored rating of 7.40. The 21-year-old scored his first and second league goals of the season in November in meetings with Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund. Reitz also made 12 tackles and interceptions combined to cap a fine month. 

 

Xavi Simons (RB Leipzig) - 7.44 

 

Capping an all-Bundesliga midfield, Xavi Simons features with a WhoScored rating of 7.44. The Dutchman scored one and assisted another in November while also ranking fifth for successful dribbles (8) in the Bundesliga. Only two players made more key passes than Simons (8) who makes the U21 XI once more. 


Matias Soule (Frosinone) - 7.59 

 

Featuring on the right is Frosinone's on-loan winger Matias Soule, who bagged his sixth league goal of the season in November, that coming in the 2-1 win over Geona last time out. Soule completed at least six more dribbles (15) than any other player in Serie A in November to contribute towards his inclusion with a WhoScored rating of 7.59. 

 

Lorenzo Colombo (Monza) - 7.28 

 

While Lorenzo Colombo hasn't been prolific for Monza this season, November proved a fruitful one for the young Italian forward. Indeed, two of the three goals Colombo has scored this season came in a 3-1 win at Verona at the start of the month as the 21-year-old leads the charge in the team. 

 

Jeremy Doku (Manchester City) - 8.57 

 

Saving the best for last, Manchester City's Jeremy Doku is far and away the best rated U21 player in Europe's top five leagues in November. Not only did Doku complete at least 10 more dribbles (21) than any other Premier League player, he also ranked second for key passes (9) and top for assists (4) to make the cut with a WhoScored rating of 8.57.
