Fantasy Football Tips for Gameweek 24 in the Premier League

The quick turnaround in fixtures doesn’t give fantasy football players much time to assess their squads but the tipster is back with the second instalment of the week to provide you with some more transfers to consider ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.

LEROY SANE (MANCHESTER CITY)

A £37m signing from Schalke in the summer, Leroy Sane’s initial struggles in the Premier League were somewhat lost in Manchester City’s strong start to the season. The Germany international had to wait until midway through October to make his first league start and even then his performances were unconvincing.

However, that all looks to have changed now and City fans are finally starting to see why Pep Guardiola invested so much money in the 21-year-old. He may have failed to add to his goal total this season in midweek, but turned in his best performance in a City shirt to date in their thrilling 4-0 win over West Ham on Wednesday (7.96 rating).

Sane was a constant threat to West Ham on and off the ball and played an integral part in City’s breathtaking counter attacking football that proved too much for the Hammers alongside the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling. He has three goals in his last four appearances for City having failed to score once in his first 12 matches of the season in all competitions, with he beginning to live up to the billing.

SEAMUS COLEMAN (EVERTON)

Ronald Koeman appears to have found a formula that could carry Everton through to the rest of the season with some success having reverted to a 3-5-2 formation and dropped an aging Phil Jagielka from the team. The Toffees are now unbeaten in six league matches and should be confident of extending that run when they welcome Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Cherries’ chances of success at Goodison Park has been rocked by the news star striker Callum Wilson is out for the rest of the season, which will only add to Eddie Howe’s current woes as he looks to address a slump in form that has seen them fail to win any of their last five in all competitions.

In changing to a back three, Koeman has put a greater attacking onus on his full-backs, which should bring the best from Seamus Coleman. The Ireland international is regarded as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League and is beginning to flourish in the attacking third having played a direct hand in two goals in his last three appearances. In fact, Coleman has played a direct hand in five goals, while only James Milner (6) has scored more of all defenders in the league this season (Coleman – 4).

SADIO MANE (LIVERPOOL)

While Jurgen Klopp admitted he was upset it was Sadio Mane that missed the decisive penalty in Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations exit, he would have been delighted to have his summer signing back and available earlier than expected.

Liverpool chartered Mane back from Gabon to have him feature in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea on Tuesday but he was only fit enough to play the final 15 minutes of their stalemate. However, Mane will come into consideration when they travel to Hull on Saturday as Klopp desperately looks to put an end to Liverpool’s poor run of form that has only seen them record one win from their last nine matches in all competitions.

In fact, Liverpool have not won any of the four league games Mane has missed from the start compared to a win ratio of 68.4% with their summer signing in the starting XI. Hull have enjoyed a brief resurgence under Marco Silva and did well to take a point from their visit from Old Trafford on Wednesday, but the reception of Liverpool, despite the fact they aren’t playing well, will be an even greater task.

Only Philippe Coutinho (7.60) has garnered a higher WhoScored away rating in the Premier League for Liverpool this season than Mane (7.46) and the pace and unpredictability he will bring to Liverpool’s frontline could prove too much even for Hull’s organised backline. Mane has played a direct hand in 13 goals in his 20 league appearances this campaign and Klopp will be hoping for an immediate impact as Liverpool look to kickstart their season again.

PATRICK VAN AANHOLT (CRYSTAL PALACE)

Having taken a huge gamble and sold Patrick van Aanholt to a direct relegation rival late last month, Sunderland could be about to pay the ultimate price when they come up against Van Aanholt’s new team, Crystal Palace, on Saturday. A £14m deal was enough for Sam Allardyce to reunite with the Dutchman at Selhurst Park last month and he will be hoping the free-scoring left-back will prove a thorn in Sunderland’s side here.

In the last two Premier League campaigns only Jermain Defoe (27) has scored more goals for Sunderland than Van Aanholt (7) and Palace will hope the former Chelsea academy graduate can transfer that goalscoring form to Selhurst Park and help fire them to safety this season.

Van Aanholt’s debut for Palace in midweek coincided with their Allardyce’s first league win as Palace boss in over a month of being in charge of the Eagles and they will be gunning for back-to-back league wins for just the second time this season when they welcome a Sunderland side that hasn’t won away from home since November.
