2018 World Cup Group H: Bayern Munich star to dazzle

The final group of the 2018 World Cup is made up from a nation from different parts of the world. Poland represent Europe, Colombia represent South America, Japan represent Asia and Senegal will represent Africa.

Poland

In Robert Lewandowksi, Poland will more than fancy their chances of progressing from Group H. The Bayern Munich striker scored as many goals in qualification (excluding play-offs) as the top goal scorers from the other nations in Group H (16 goals).

Colombia

Colombia will also be relying on another Bayern player to get them through to the knockout phase for only the third time in six attempts. James Rodriguez made a name for himself after finishing the 2014 edition as the tournament’s highest top scorer (6), despite the fact Colombia were eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Senegal

Perhaps even rank outsiders for the whole tournament, Senegal are gearing up for just their second ever appearance at a World Cup finals. They made it all the way to the quarter-finals in 2002 and will be confident of reaching that stage again with the players they possess.

With Sadio Mane, Kalidou Koulibaly, Keita Balde, Idrissa Gueye and Salif Sane at their disposal, they have the players to make a real impression in Russia. However, they required the play-offs to qualify for the World Cup, which suggests they still need to work on things before next summer.

Japan

Japan have qualified for the six World Cup in a row but have failed to progress out of the group in three of those tournaments. They have only won two of their last 11 World Cup final matches and were on the receiving end of a 4-1 thrashing against Colombia in their final match of the 2014 World Cup.
