Ramos, Verratti and Lukaku head up UEFA Nations League Team of the Round

 

The likes of Spain and France maintained their unbeaten start to their respective UEFA Nations League campaigns and the pair are featured in the League A team of the round. Inter fans will be pleased to see Christian Eriksen and Romelu Lukaku make the cut, while the former's international teammate, and Chelsea star, Andreas Christensen features at the heart of the defence.

Ibrahim Sehic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - 7.54 

 

Netherlands have made a poor start to life under Frank de Boer as they followed up a 1-0 loss to Mexico with a 0-0 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ibrahim Sehic played a key role in the latter stalemate on Sunday evening as the 32-year-old made four saves to keep the Netherlands offensive at bay and kick off the UEFA Nations League team of the round with a WhoScored rating of 7.54. 

 

Benjamin Pavard (France) - 7.56 

 

The defending European and World champions played out a 0-0 draw in Paris on Sunday night as both teams maintained their unbeaten start to their respective UEFA Nations League campaign. Benjamin Pavard put in a solid shift from right-back as his WhoSored rating of 7.56 suggests. Five tackles, three interceptions and three clearances helped France in a clean sheet attaining display as Portugal endured rotten luck when attacking down their left flank. 

 

Sergio Ramos (Spain) - 7.80 

 

Sergio Ramos may have been unable to get on the scoresheet for Spain once more, but he still put in a man of the match showing as they earned a narrow 1-0 win over Switzerland. The Real madrid star was solid in possession with 92.8% of his 83 passes finding a teammate, while off the ball, Switzerland found it difficult to get the better of Ramos as he made six tackles and two interceptions to earn a WhoScored rating of 7.80.

Andreas Christensen (Demark) - 7.63 

 

The first of three Denmark representatives partners Ramos at the heart of the defence. Andreas Christensen put in a fine display as the Danish Dynamite earned a comfortable 3-0 win over their Nordic neighbours Iceland. Christensen utilised his strength of 'passing' to good effect as he found a teammate with 93.4% of his 91 attempted passes, while five clearances and four interceptions saw him yield a WhoScored rating of 7.63. 

 

Robert Skov (Denmark) - 8.41 

 

The League A player of the round completes the defence. Robert Skov bagged his first goal of the UEFA Nations League campaign in Denmark's 3-0 win over Iceland, that coming from one of three shots. Skov pushed forward well from left-back, completing two dribbles, and was unlucky not to register an assist having made three key passes to contribute towards a WhoScored rating of 8.41. 

 

Nikola Vlasic (Croatia) - 8.08 

 

Following back-to-back heavy defeats at the hands of Portugal and France, Croatia put their first points on the board with a 2-1 win over Sweden at the weekend. Nikola Vlasic was key in the victory, netting the opening goal after half an hour as he scored from one of three shots. A little composure from his teammates would have seen Vlasic come away from the clash with an assist as he made four key passes to help earn a WhoScored rating of 8.08.

Jakub Moder (Poland) - 7.65 

 

Anchoring the midfield with a WhoScored rating of 7.65, Jakub Moder was solid in midfield in Poland's 0-0 draw with Italy on Sunday. The youngster made seven clearances, two tackles and one interception to keep the Azzurri at bay in a battling display on his first UEFA Nations League start. 

 

Marco Verratti (Italy) - 8.19 

 

Remaining with Poland's 0-0 draw with Italy, Marco Verratti put in a man of the match showing from midfield. The PSG man drove forward from midfield was ease as he completed more dribbles (6) than any other player in this round of UEFA Nations League matches, and made two key passes in the stalemate. With four tackles and one interception to his name, Verratti was good value for his WhoScored rating of 8.19. 

 

Christian Eriksen (Denmark) - 8.00 

 

The final Denmark player in the XI, Christian Eriksen has endured his critics for Inter this season, but put in a fine performance for the national side in their 3-0 win over Iceland. Eriksen netted his first and Denmark's second shortly after the break, hitting the back of the net with one of three shots in the victory, and made five key passes to garner a WhoScored rating of 8.00. 

 

Romelu Lukaku (Belgium) - 7.38 

 

While Romelu Lukaku was unable to fire Belgium to victory at Wembley on Sunday, the Inter forward managed to put the Red Devils ahead from the spot shortly after the game kicked off. Lukaku found a way past Jordan Pickford with one of four shots in their 2-1 loss to England and was unfortunate not to add an assist to his goal as he created three goalscoring chances to help return a WhoScored rating of 7.38. 

 

Mikel Oyarzabal (Spain) - 7.36 

 

The second Spanish representative finishes off the team of the round. Mikel Oyarzabal scored the decisive goal with 14 minutes on the clock against Switzerland and he was unlucky not to add a second after the break, striking the woodwork early in the second half, as he mustered two shots in total. With one interception to his name, too, Oyarzabal earned a WhoScored rating of 7.36.
