Arsenal dominate Premier League Team of the Week but Chelsea loanee stars

 

Arsenal got back to winning ways in style at Southampton's expense on Saturday, earning a 3-0 win on home turf. The Gunners, like Leicester, have three players feature in the Premier League team of the week, while Manchester City, Liverpool, Brentford, Burnley and Crystal Palace are also represented. 

 

Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal) - 8.46 

 

Arsenal got back to winning ways as they earned a 3-0 win over Southampton on Saturday. However, it wasn't plain sailing for the Gunners, who needed a man of the match performance from Aaron Ramsdale to secure the three points. Ramsdale kept his seventh Premier League clean sheet of the season over the weekend, making six saves in the process, to land a WhoScored rating of 8.46. 

 

Joao Cancelo (Manchester City) - 8.16 

 

Manchester City were made to work hard for their 1-0 win over Wolves over the weekend, with a Raheem Sterling penalty midway through the second half securing all the spoils for Pep Guardiola's side. Joao Cancelo defended solidly, making four tackles and one interception, and got forward well as he made four key passes and three dribbles to secure the right-back spot with a WhoScored rating of 8.16. 

 

Vitaly Janelt (Brentford) - 8.00 

 

Vitaly Janelt was needed to help out at centre-back for Brentford against Watford on Friday night and the German didn't look out of place in defence in their 2-1 win, landing the WhoScored man of the match award with a rating of 8.00. The 23-year-old won six aerial duels in the narrow victory, while five clearances, three tackles and one interception capped a solid display. 

 

Ben Mee (Burnley) - 7.71 

 

Partnering Janelt at the heart of the defence, Burnley earned an impressive point at West Ham's expense on Sunday afternoon with Ben Mee key in their 0-0 draw with the Hammers. Mee made seven clearances and six tackles, while an additional six aerial duels won marked a fine performance that saw him yield a WhoScored rating of 7.71. 

 

Andrew Robertson (Liverpool) - 7.81 

 

Rounding off the backline is Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson. The Scot was unfortunate not to add an assist in the Reds' 1-0 home win over Steven Gerrard's side as he chipped in with four key passes. In addition, two clearances, one tackle and one interception helped Liverpool to a clean sheet victory and Robertson to a WhoScored rating of 7.81. 

 

James Maddison (Leicester) - 9.20 

 

Leicester romped to a 4-0 win over basement boys Newcastle on Sunday afternoon with James Maddison key in the victory. Maddison won the Foxes' first half penalty before adding his first assist of the game with 10 minutes to go. In the 85th-minute, the 25-year-old bagged his goal, those coming from respective returns of one key pass and two shots to help the Leicester star to a WhoScored rating of 9.20.

Conor Gallagher (Crystal Palace) - 9.83 

 

The WhoScored player of the week, Conor Gallagher was superb in Crystal Palace's 3-1 win over Everton on Sunday evening. The on-loan star scored goals five and six for the season in the victory, hitting the back of the net with two of seven shots. Gallagher impressed off the ball, making four tackles, and could have had an assist, too, as he managed three key passes to land a WhoScored rating of 9.83. 

 

Youri Tielemans (Leicester) - 8.76 

 

The second of three Leicester players to make the Premier League team of the week, Youri Tielemans bagged a brace as the Foxes romped to a 4-0 win over Newcastle, finding a way past Martin Dubravka with two of three shots. The Belgian made an impressive five tackles, too, to partner Gallagher in the middle of the park with a WhoScored rating of 8.76. 

 

Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal) - 8.29 

 

Finishing off the midfield is the second Arsenal representative. Gabriel Martinelli provided his second assist of the season in their 3-0 win over Southampton, setting up for compatriot Gabriel midway through the second half, that coming from one of three key passes. The 20-year-old worked hard off the ball also as he made three tackles to garner a WhoScored rating of 8.29. 

 

Patson Daka (Leicester) - 8.26 

 

Patson Daka had a direct hand in two of Leicester's four goals on Sunday and is good value for his inclusion in this XI having earned a WhoScored rating of 8.26. Daka doubled the Foxes' advantage just before the hour mark and then turned provider for James Maddison with five minutes to go, those coming from respective returns of one shot and one key pass.  

 

Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal) - 7.71 

 

Featuring alongside Daka in attack is Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette. The Gunners hitman notched just his second league goal of the season as the Gunners earned a 3-0 win over Southampton, netting past Willy Caballero with his only shot of the game. With three aerial duels won, one key pass and one successful dribble, Lacazette did enough to land a WhoScored rating of 7.71.
