REVEALED: Arsenal club-record capture stars in top new signing rundown

It's the final international break of the year, and the last domestic hiatus until March, so now is as good a time as any to take stock of the Premier League season so far. Using our unique rating system, we take a look at each side's top rated summer arrivals in the first of our four-part series, with Arsenal kicking things off...

Arsenal - Nicolas Pepe (7.21 rating)

Arsenal's club record signing may not have hit the heights expected of him following his big money capture from Lille, but his WhoScored rating (7.21) is better than the likes of fellow summer arrivals David Luiz (6.67) and Dani Ceballos (6.65). That said, Pepe is one of only three Arsenal players to have provided more than one assist this season, while 36 dribbles and 17 key passes are also more than any anyone else for the Gunners.

Aston Villa - Frederic Guilbert (7.05 rating)

Aston Villa splurged big time over the summer, but it was a player who they agreed to sign in January that has made the largest impact at Villa Park. With a WhoScored rating of 7.05, Frederic Guilbert is the best rated of Villa's summer arrivals and for good reason too. His 2.4 tackles per game is the the third highest of all players for the club, while 2.4 interceptions per game is more than any other Villans performer as he reaffirms statistically calculated WhoScored strengths of 'tackling' and 'ball interception'.

Bournemouth - Philip Billing (7.16 rating)

Bournemouth needed to add some bite to the midfield over the summer to ease the burden on Jefferson Lerma and raided relegated Huddersfield for Philip Billing. The Dane hasn't disappointed either having landed a WhoScored rating of 7.16 for the Cherries. Aerially dominant, the 23-year-old's average of 3.3 aerial duels won per game is the second best return for the club, while 2.3 tackles and 2.5 interceptions per game both rank second.

Brighton - Leandro Trossard (6.86 rating)

Injury has restricted Leandro Trossard to just six league appearances this season, and while Brighton may expect more from their big money summer capture, two goals and one assist is a commendable return for the Belgian, whose start to life in England has been disrupted by a stint on the sidelines. Despite a lack of game time, only Pascal Gross (28) has made more key passes than Trossard (14) of all Brighton players and it's contributed towards a WhoScored rating of 6.86.

Burnley - Erik Pieters (6.83 rating)

Not the most glamourous of summer arrivals, but Erik Pieters has proven to be a solid, if unspectacular, pickup by Burnley. 11 games into the season and the left-back has already enjoyed his most creative Premier League campaign with three assists to his name and he has proven a resolute addition to an already steadfast backline having averaged more tackles per game (2.8) than any other Clarets player to return a WhoScored rating of 6.83.
