Dortmund dominate the Bundesliga best XI for September

After revealing our Premier League and Serie A team of the month for September, attention now turns to the Bundesliga. With seven games played, Borussia Dortmund are the only remaining unbeaten side this season, earning 19 points from 21 available, and its Peter Bosz’s team who has the greatest representation in the XI.

Dortmund have five players in the Bundesliga team of the month for September, with Pierre-Emerick Aubaymeyang the top rated performer in Germany’s top tier. The Gabon star earned a WhoScored rating of 7.72 last month as he bagged six goals, including a hat-trick against Gladbach, and registered an assist.

Three of the four midfielders in the XI play alongside Aubameyang at the Westfalenstadion, with Andriy Yarmolenko, Nuri Sahin and Maximilian Philipp all joining the striker in the side. Yarmolenko scored one and registered two assists, while Philipp netted four and provided one assist. Sahin was another solid performer in the middle of the park for Dortmund.

Sahin features with Thiago Alcantara in the middle of the park, with the Spaniard a stand out performer for Bayern, despite a forgettable month for the champions after the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti. Robert Lewandowski also stars in the team as the Poland international put away four goals in four league appearances.

Bayern teammate Joshua Kimmich makes the cut after a respectable September, where the youngster registered three assists. Sokratis is the final Dortmund representative in the side, with the Greek centre-back picking up a WhoScored rating of 7.5.

Marwin Hitz completes the XI after he kept three clean sheets in five appearances for Augsburg last month. They lost just one of five matches in September, that coming against Dortmund, and their run included a 1-0 win over last season’s runners’ up RB Leipzig, with Hitz crucial in Augsburg’s good run of form.
