European Team of the Season: RB – Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich)

 

Bayern Munich defender Joshua Kimmich has secured a place at right-back in the WhoScored.com Team of Season in Europe’s top five leagues.

 

Kimmich enjoyed another impressive campaign for Bayern, helping the Bundesliga giants to their sixth successive league title.

 

The 23-year-old has quickly developed into one of the best right-backs in Europe in the last two years, successfully filling the void left by Philipp Lahm.

 

Kimmich finished the season with a WhoScored rating of 7.23 in the Bundesliga, which is by far his best in a single campaign.

The Germany international registered 10 assists in the Bundesliga this season, at least three more than any other right-back in Europe’s top five leagues.

 

Kimmich will now hope to carry that form into the 2018 World Cup with Germany where Die Mannschaft will aim to retain their title.

 

Joachim Low will not have any doubts about Kimmich’s ability on the international stage after the Bayern defender finished qualification to the World Cup with the most assists of the UEFA nations (9).
