This season's best value strikers on Fantasy Premier League

Time is ticking to get your Fantasy Football squads locked in for the 2020/21 Premier League campaign, with only three days to go until the new season kicks off.

This is often a stressful period for gamers, who spend night and day trying to work out the best formula to get the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kevin De Bruyne in the same team.

It's tricky business but we are on hand to help. Having already run through the best value defenders and midfielders, it's time to turn our attention to the forwards. Saving the odd £1m here and there could be the difference of you getting a star player or a dud so these are worth considering.

By now you have probably already realised that most traditional forwards are down as midfielders on Premier League fantasy football and while that has caused great controversy, it opens up opportunities for unlikely names to sneak into your squads.

Forward - Timo Werner (Chelsea) - £9.5m

Value doesn't necessarily mean the cheapest players. New Chelsea striker Timo Werner is listed as the fourth most expensive forward on the game but when you consider the alternatives priced at £9.5m then he is a no brainer. Werner finished last season with 28 goals and eight assists in the Bundesliga and will spearhead Chelsea's revamped attack in 2020/21. That return would have yielded 136 points alone on Fantasy Premier League. Priced at £9.5m ahead of his first Premier League season, he is priced on the same tier as Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus and Liverpool's Roberto Firmino, both of whom scored less league goals combined (23) than Werner last term.

Forward - Chris Wood (Burnley) - £6.5m

Chris Wood certainly isn't the most exciting inclusion possible for your Fantasy squads but it doesn't mean he isn't an effective points scorer. The 28-year-old has reached double figures for goals in all three of his Premier League seasons for the Clarets, emphasising his consistency at the top level. Selected by just 3.2% of teams at the time of writing, he is evidently being overlooked by many. At £6.5m, Wood is more than a useful rotation option up front and would free up funds to bring in the big names elsewhere.

Forward - Michail Antonio (West Ham) - £6.5m

Michail Antonio finished the 2019/20 campaign as one of the most in-form players in the Premier League. Only Manchester City's Raheem Sterling (9) scored more goals than Antonio (8) post-lockdown and the 30-year-old is set to lead the line for West Ham once again this season. His value does not represent a player in the sort of form he finished last season and he should come into your thinking if you think West Ham will overcome what has been a tricky pre-season.

Forward - Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham) - £6m

Having barely reinforced their offensive options for their Premier League return, the onus will be on Aleksandar Mitrovic to fire Fulham to safety this season. Mitrovic scored 26 goals in the Championship last season and is a safe bet to score the majority of Fulham's goals this season. Having a first-choice Premier League striker in your squad at just £6m isn't bad at all.
