Yahoo! Fantasy Football: Manchester City star steals limelight in best XI

In a week that saw Manchester City extend their lead at the top of the table to 16 points, the Premier League leaders are now six wins away from landing the title. For the sake of narrative, if rivals Manchester United keep up the pace with their rivals, then City have the chance to win the title at the Etihad Stadium, with the pair facing off in six gameweeks’ time.  

City opened up the gulf at the summit with a resounding 5-1 win over Leicester on Saturday evening, with Sergio Aguero chipping in with four goals and Kevin De Bruyne registering three assists. Deputising for the injured Marcos Alonso, Davide Zappacosta did a solid, if unspectacular, job at left wing-back in Chelsea’s comfortable 3-0 win over West Brom on Monday. The Italian made one key pass and completed three dribbles to return 10.10 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points this week. 

DEFENDER – BEN DAVIES 

Ben Davies provided the key assist for Harry Kane’s winning goal in Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Arsenal on Saturday to make this XI with 11.15 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points. With one key pass, one tackle and one interception, the Welshman did enough to secure his spot in defence in this side. 

DEFENDER – AARON CRESSWELL 

Aaron Cresswell is the second of two West Ham players to feature in the top performing Yahoo! Fantasy Football XI having earned himself 10.25 points for his outing on Saturday. Like Davies, the Hammers defender grabbed an assist against Watford, while one key pass, one tackle, one interception and five clearances earned him a place in the XI. 

MIDFIELDER – VICTOR MOSES 

The second of three Chelsea players to make this XI, Victor Moses has scored only two league goals this season, but both of those have come in his last three appearances. What’s more, the Nigerian made one key pass and completed one dribble to help yield 16.70 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points. 

MIDFIELDER – KI SUNG-YUENG 

Swansea maintained their unbeaten run as they saw off Burnley, landing a 1-0 win over the Clarets to boost their chances of safety. Ki Sung-yueng netted the crucial goal, while three key passes and a 84.4% pass success rate saw the South Korean midfielder gain 18.40 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points. 

MIDFIELDER – KEVIN DE BRUYNE 

Partnering Ki in the middle of the park is Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne, who helped himself to three assists in a 5-1 win over Leicester on Saturday. The Belgian has registered more assists (14) than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues this season, while six passes and two successful dribbles saw him earn 20.50 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points. 

MIDFIELDER – EDEN HAZARD 

Eden Hazard has been in scintillating form in recent weeks and maintained his level of excellence with a man of the match display in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over West Brom. The Belgian bagged a brace in the victory, made five key passes and completed five dribbles against the Baggies to earn 24.60 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points. 

UTILITY – STEVE MOUNIE 

Huddersfield ended a dire run of form with a resounding 4-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday, with Steve Mounie the key man. The Terriers forward earned a spot in the WhoScored.com team of the week having scored one and assisted another to return 26.60 Yahoo! Fantasy Football points. 

STRIKER – SERGIO AGUERO 

Earning more Yahoo! Fantasy Football points (45.85) than any other player this week was Sergio Aguero, who netted four in Manchester City’s 5-1 win over Leicester. The Argentine had seven shots and completed four dribbles to also secure a perfect WhoScored.com rating of 10. 

STRIKER – JOSE IZQUIERDO 

Rounding off the top performing Yahoo! Fantasy Football XI of gameweek 27 is Brighton speedster Jose Izquierdo. The 25-year-old scored the Seagulls’ only goal of the game in a 1-1 draw with Stoke, while an additional two key passes and one successful dribble saw him gain 18.90 points.
