WhoScored tipster: The three Frenchman worth buying on Football Index this weekend

Football INDEX is the world’s first football stock market where you can buy and sell shares in footballers with real money. Football INDEX offers fans a chance to bet on the future success of football players compared to the short-lived outcome of betting on football results.

There are two different ways to make money using the platform, through media rankings dependent on how much a player is being talked about in the news and match day rankings, which focus on player performance using statistics.

That is where we come in, using our database to try and suggest which players will perform well in their respective matches. The following are our top tips for a defender, midfielder and forward that may be worth buying shares in this weekend ahead of the 12pm dividend deadline.

Defender - Lucas Hernandez (Atletico Madrid)

While he may have come to the attention of many over the summer as a left full-back for World Cup winners France, Hernandez plays centre back more often than not for club side Atletico and has forced his way into the side in that position this season. Over 321 minutes across four league appearances this season the 22-year-old is yet to be part of a backline that has conceded a goal in LaLiga this season, and has been a lucky charm for Diego Simeone, ending each of his seven appearances in all competitions on the winning side.

Up against a Villarreal side this Saturday that have lost their way this season, down in 16th having only scored more goals than Real Betis, with six, another three points and clean sheet could be on the cards for Hernandez. His share price has risen from £1.64 to £1.85 over the course of the last month and should be even higher after the weekend.

Midfielder - Adrien Rabiot (Paris Saint-Germain)

Another Frenchman worth considering, this time one that missed out on the World Cup squad over the summer, Rabiot has played as if he is keen to prove a point this season, pulling the strings for PSG. Very much first choice under new manager Thomas Tuchel, playing the most minutes of any midfielder, the 23-year-old is averaging the most passes per game for the Ligue 1 champions (83) at a sensational 93.4 per cent accuracy.

Facing Amiens this weekend, the league leaders will undoubtedly dominate possession against the lowest scorers in the division away from home (one goal), and Rabiot was on the scoresheet when the two sides met in the cup earlier this year. His share price has dropped over the last seven days, but always remember to buy low and sell high, and expect another spike come Sunday.

Forward - Alassane Plea (Gladbach)

With the Bundesliga back underway this weekend, Gladbach are one of five sides that will be hoping to extend their run ahead of Bayern Munich having leapfrogged the German champions with a convincing win at the Allianz Arena ahead of the international break. The shock 3-0 win was set into action by summer signing Plea’s early strike and the Frenchman has certainly made his mark following a summer switch from Nice.

The 25-year-old has scored in four consecutive Bundesliga appearances and had a hand in a goal in each of his last six for the Foals, who host Mainz on Sunday. The visitors have been tough to break down this season but are without a goal in four at the opposite end and have picked up just a solitary point on the road. Plea’s price has risen consistently over the past month and if his form in front of goal persists it won’t be long until his linked with another move.
