Napoli vs Roma Confirmed XIs: Hamsik misses out for hosts

Marek Hamsik has been left out of Napoli’s starting XI for their crunch tie with Roma, with the 30-year-old not fit to feature in a Serie A match for the first time since April 2015. 

Napoli’s lynchpin has gained a WhoScored rating of 7.14 this season with six goals, one assist and 1.5 key passes per game, but Maurizio Sarri was unable to call upon Hamsik with Piotr Zielinski coming in for the Slovakian. 

Elsewhere, Sarri hasn’t sprung any surprises to his first choice XI as Napoli look to open up a four-point gap at the top of Serie A after Juventus' late 1-0 win at Lazio. 

For Roma, meanwhile, the capital side have lined up as expected as they continue their pursuit for a Champions League place. 

That means promising winger Cengiz Under continues in the Roma starting XI, with the Turkish youngster looking to maintain his fine form. 

Under has scored five and assisted one in his last five competitive appearances, but failed to have an impact against AC Milan last week.
