Reus one of five Bundesliga stars to make Euro best XI

 

Goalkeeper: Brice Samba (Caen) - 9.33 rating 

 

Brice Samba earned his third WhoScored man of the match award from his last eight appearances with a stunning display in Caen’s 1-0 win at Nice on Saturday. The Congolese shotstopper saved a first half Remi Walter penalty, that one of eight saves in the hard-fought victory, as Samba returned a WhoScored rating of 9.33 in another clean sheet attaining performance. 

 

Right-back: Jonathan Schmid (Augsburg) - 8.40 rating 

 

The first of two Augsburg players to make this XI after their resounding 6-0 win over VfB Stuttgart, Jonathan Schmid registered his fifth and sixth league assists of the season in the victory to help land a WhoScored rating of 8.40. Those two assists came from four key passes, while additional returns of one tackle and one interception capped a solid outing. 

 

Centre-back: Abdoulaye Ba (Rayo Vallecano) - 8.30 rating 

 

Rayo Vallecano earned just their sixth clean sheet of the season in their 0-0 draw with SD Huesca with Abdoulaye Ba the star man in the stalemate. The 28-year-old centre-back’s WhoScored rating of 8.30 was enough to be named the man of the match as he won 11 aerial duels, made nine clearances, three interceptions and two tackles in a fine showing. 

 

Centre-back: Diego Carlos (Nantes) - 7.79 rating 

 

Diego Carlos gets the nod ahead of Virgil van Dijk in defence as he landed an average WhoScored rating of 7.79 from Nantes’ back-to-back 3-2 home wins over PSG and Amiens, securing the man of the match award in the former. The Brazilian netted a decisive goal over PSG and across the two games made 10 clearances, nine tackles and seven interceptions. 

 

Left-back: Lucas Digne (Everton) - 8.91 rating 

 

Rounding off the defence is Everton star Lucas Digne, who netted his fourth league goal of the season in the Toffees’ 4-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday. The Frenchman hit the back of the net with one of two shots, while his defensive work helped secure a clean sheet as Digne chipped in with seven clearances, three tackles and one clearance to return a WhoScored rating of 8.91. 

 

Right midfield: Ayoze Perez (Newcastle) - 9.64 rating 

 

The WhoScored Premier League player of the week, Ayoze Perez was excellent in Newcastle’s 3-1 win over Southampton as he took home the match ball having bagged a hat-trick in the victory. The Spaniard scored with each shot and completed three dribbles, while an additional three tackles saw Perez garner a WhoScored rating of 9.64. 

 

Central midfield: Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund) - 9.01 rating 

 

Borussia Dortmund romped to a 4-0 win at Freiburg on Sunday with Marco Reus having a direct hand in three of the four goals. The Germany star hit the back of the net with one of his two shots and provided two assists from two key passes. Two additional tackles saw Reus pick up a WhoScored rating of 9.01, that enough to land the man of the match gong.

Central midfield: Erick Pulgar (Bologna) - 8.92 rating 

 

Bologna edged closer to survival as they secured a fifth win in seven with a 3-0 win over Sampdoria over the weekend. Chilean Erick Pulgar put in another solid display as he netted his sixth league goal of the season to maintain his good goalscoring form, with those six goals coming from his last seven appearances. The 25-year-old scored with one of two shots, but it was his good work off the ball that saw Pulgar return a WhoScored rating of 8.92 as he made six tackles and two interceptions in a man of the match display. 

 

Left midfield: Marcel Halstenberg (RB Leipzig) - 9.51 rating 

 

Marcel Halstenberg’s stock continues to soar and he proved just why with a man of the match display in RB Leipzig’s 2-1 win at Gladbach on Saturday. The German bagged a brace in the victory, with his two goals coming from three shots, and he was a general nuisance as he he completed four dribbles to help land a WhoScored rating of 9.51. 

 

Striker: Ishak Belfodil (Hoffenheim) - 9.94 rating 

 

Ishak Belfodil maintained his fine form for Hoffenheim as he shone in their 5-2 win at Schalke. The Algerian now has 15 league goals to his name this season, two of which came in Saturday’s comfortable win as he scored with two of three shots, and registered his third assist of the season in the victory, that coming from one of two key passes. Three successful dribbles capped a memorable display as Belfodil landed a WhoScored rating of 9.94 to return his third WhoScored man of the match award from his last four outings. 

 

Striker: Marco Richter (Augsburg) - 10.0 rating 

 

Completing this XI is the second Augsburg representative in this XI as Marco Richter excelled in their 6-0 win over VfB Stuttgart. The 21-year-old has had a direct hand in eight league goals this season, scoring four and assisting four, with three of those coming in the resounding victory. Richter scored from two of six shots for Augsburg and provided an assist from one of four key passes as the youngster returned a perfect WhoScored 10 rating.
