Burnley mauling sees Man City's Mahrez land Euro player of the week award

Manchester City have a fine record against Burnley, and one they extended on Saturday as they romped to a 5-0 win over the Clarets. Riyad Mahrez was the star of the show at the Etihad Stadium and is a deserving winner of the European player of the week award.

Here we look at the top performers from each position across Europe's top five leagues...

Goalkeeper: Gautier Larsonneur (Brest) - 8.62

Brest earned their third successive league win at Metz's expense at the weekend, with Gautier Larsonneur putting in a solid shift between the sticks. The young Frenchman made six saves in all as he kept the Metz offensive at bay, while three high balls claimed helped eased pressure on the Brest goal and saw Larsonneur land a WhoScored rating of 8.62.

Midfielder: Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) - 9.22

Jack Grealish was unlucky to be on the losing side in Aston Villa's 2-1 defeat at West Ham on Monday night. The Villans captain netted his side's equaliser midway through the first half and was unfortunate not to add an assist having made five key passes in the loss at the London Stadium. Grealish carved through the West Ham midfield and defence with ease having completed all eight attempted dribbles as he yielded a WhoScored rating of 9.22 in the capital.

Honourable Mentions

2nd: Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) - 9.00

3rd: Juraj Kucka (Parma) - 8.84

The European player of the week with a WhoScored rating of 10.0, Riyad Mahrez continued his fine goalscoring record against Burnley with a hat-trick in Manchester City's 5-0 win over the Clarets. Mahrez has now scored eight goals in nine league outings against Sean Dyche's side, with his three goals on Saturday coming from five shots. Had his teammates boasted their shooting boots, the Algerian would have had an assist to his name too having created six goalscoring chances to contribute towards his man of the match award.
