United look to trigger Pedro clause

Manchester United have reportedly jumped to the front of the queue of potential suitors to sign Barcelona’s Pedro.

Chelsea and Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Spain international after seeing his playing time limited at Camp Nou following the acquisition of Luis Suarez last summer.

Sources close to the player suggest Pedro is keen to link up with compatriots Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and David de Gea at Old Trafford.

And now United appear set to add the 27-year-old to the ranks as they hope to trigger Pedro’s £22m release clause.

Should Louis van Gaal’s side secure the Spaniard’s services, he will become their fifth summer signing after Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Matteo Darmian and Morgan Schneiderlin.

Despite a lack of regular first team action, Pedro’s return of 6 league goals was the fourth best of all Barcelona players last season.
