Chelsea face transfer battle for top target Chilwell

Chelsea are one of eight teams courting Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell this summer, reports The Mirror on Sunday.

Blues boss Frank Lampard is looking to bring in a new left-back this summer with Emerson and Marcos Alonso both expected to be sold.

The west London side have been linked with a number of new left-backs, including Nicolas Tagliafico and Alex Telles, but Lampard's preference remains Chilwell.

Leicester won't be open to a cheap sale, with the Foxes believed to value the England international around the £80m mark.

However, Chelsea, who have already confirmed the summer arrival of Hakim Ziyech and are the frontrunners for Timo Werner, won't have a free run at Chilwell this summer.

Four Premier League sides, including Chelsea, are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old, who has suitors from both Italy and Spain too.

Leicester are under no pressure to sell Chilwell this summer and they are unlikely to cash in on the defender unless their hefty valuation is met.

Chilwell has scored two goals and provided three assists for Leicester this season to help yield a WhoScored rating of 6.97.
