Man Utd Transfer News: United line up move for free agent Mario Hermoso

Manchester United are considering a move for out of contract centre-back Mario Hermoso, according to Spanish journalist Maximo de la Cruz Ramirez Ramirez.

Hermoso is a free agent following his release from Atletico Madrid, with the 29-year-old free to discuss a move to a new club.

United are in the market for another centre-back despite the signing of Leny Yoro from Lille last month.

However, Yoro is sidelined for the foreseeable future, while Erik ten Hag has injury concerns over centre-backs Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof ahead of United's Community Shield meeting with Manchetser City on Saturday.

United are still expected to bring in another centre-back before the transfer window closes later this month, with Matthijs de Ligt among their top targets.

With a deal for the Dutchman stalling, though, United are rumoured to have offered Hermoso a three-year contract worth €6m.

Hermoso made 29 league starts for Atletico Madrid last season, returning a WhoScored rating of 6.71 in the process.
