Stones secures new long-term Man City deal

John Stones has agreed a new five-year deal worth £250,000-a-week with Manchester City, reports The Athletic.

The Premier League champions have rewarded Stones with improved terms after his stunning return to form over the last 12 months.

Stones' City career looked done and dusted at the start of last season but he ended up forming a formidable partnership with Ruben Dias for Pep Guardiola's side.

The 27-year-old, who had entered the last 12 months of his previous City contract, also worked his way back into the England fold and had a superb Euro 2020 campaign.

Stones has spent the last five years at the Etihad and his new deal will take him through to a decade at the club.

The England centre-back had the best pass success rate (93.3%) in the Premier League last season.

Moreover, only Lewis Dunk and Kurt Zouma (both 5) scored more Premier League goals than Stones (4) of all centre-backs in 2020/21.
