Real Madrid to revive interest in Ajax sensation

Real Madrid are set to renew their interest in Ajax midfield Donny van de Beek and make another move for the Dutchman next summer, reports Spanish publication AS.

Los Blancos were linked with a host of midfielders over the summer, including Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen, but any move failed to materialise.

Van de Beek was viewed as an alternative to the pair in Spain, but after losing both Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong to Juventus and Barcelona, respectively, Ajax were reluctant to cash in on the 22-year-old.

Real Madrid invested heavily in their squad over the summer, bringing Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Ferland Mendy, to name three, to the Bernabeu.

However, head coach Zinedine Zidane is looking to add midfield reinforcements, particularly with Luka Madrid now 34.

Van de Beek has made a flying start to the domestic campaign with defending Eredivisie champions Ajax, returning a WhoScored rating of 8.12.

Only teammate Dusan Tadic (8) has had a direct hand in more goals than Van de Beek (5 - 2 goals, 3 assists) in the Eredivisie this season.
