Top transfer round-up: January 21st: Barcelona set to sign Boateng, while Pogba eyes Manchester United extension

Here we run through the latest rumours and round-up the possible movers dominating today’s gossip columns

Pogba keen on new Manchester United deal

Paul Pogba is ready to discuss a new Manchester United contract after rediscovering his best form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The 25-year-old had an explosive relationship with former United manager Jose Mourinho and looked on course to leave Old Trafford under the Portuguese.

Solskjaer was put in interim charge of United before Christmas and has won all seven of his opening games in charge.

Solskjaer has built his team around Pogba and the 2018 World Cup winner has played an instrumental part in United’s resurgence.

Pogba has played a direct hand in nine goals in six appearances under Solskjaer, as many as 20 appearances during Mourinho this term.

Tottenham interested in shock move for Carroll

Tottenham are pondering a shock January move for Andy Carroll with Harry Kane injured until March.

Kane is out for the next six weeks with ankle ligament damage and Tottenham are concerned they could slip out of the top four as a result.

Pochettino had previously moved to dampen suggestions Tottenham need to use the January transfer market to replace Kane.

However, it has now emerged that Carroll is a target for Tottenham and he could be available for just £2m.

Carroll has entered the final six months of his current West Ham deal and has struggled to stay fit for prolonged periods in the last few years.

The 30-year-old has failed to score a Premier League goal from 12 attempts this season.

Barcelona to sign Kevin-Prince Boateng

Sassuolo striker Kevin-Prince Boateng will undergo his Barcelona medical ahead of a shock loan move to Camp Nou.

Barcelona have been on the market for a new striker since selling Munir to Sevilla earlier this month.

After being heavily linked with a move for a number of strikers across Europe, Barcelona have now settled on Boateng.

The 31-year-old will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Barcelona and the Spanish giants have an option to make the move permanent in the summer.

Boateng only joined Sassuolo in the summer but is now poised to complete a staggering move to one of the biggest clubs in the world.

The former Tottenham forward has scored four goals in 13 league games in Serie A this season.

Gary Cahill unlikely to join Fulham

Gary Cahill is not expected to join Fulham this month over a disagreement about personal terms.

The Chelsea veteran is free to leave Stamford Bridge this month after entering the final six months of his current deal.

Fulham have agreed a cut-price fee with their west London rivals but talks have stalled with the former England international.

Cahill wants a long-term deal at his next club and Fulham are unwilling to sanction one for the 33-year-old.
