Form Rankings: Ronaldo top of the pile in Europe as goalscoring glut continues

The goals continue to fly in for Cristiano Ronaldo who, at 34, is in remarkable scoring form, even by the remarkable standards he has set throughout his career.

Yet another brace from the Portuguese forward was enough to earn a narrow victory at Eibar and seen the Real Madrid star jump to the top of the form rankings leaderboard.

His closest challenger is now Antoine Griezmann, who jumps three places after a goal and assist earned the Frenchman a man of the match rating against Celta Vigo on Sunday.

Argentine duo Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi stay third and fourth respectively having not featured at the weekend but risk dropping out altogether should they fail to play in the next available league game for their clubs.

The only player to fall down the pecking order in the top ten was Eden Hazard after another goalless display against Crystal Palace, while Roberto Firmino and Geoffrey Kondogbia soar into the reckoning.

The former was the one Liverpool attacker that caused Manchester United any problems at the weekend, with Mohamed Salah dropping six places to 18th after a very subdued display. Kondogbia, meanwhile, played a starring role with two assists as Valencia put an end to a wretched record away at Sevilla to keep the pressure on Real Madrid in third.

The only new qualifier into the rankings, having now played at least two of the last three league games available as well as a minimum of six of the last eight, is Hoffenheim’s Andrej Kramaric. The Croatian has netted in five of the last six Bundesliga games and jumps straight in at 13.

Elsewhere there was a return for Luis Suarez (20th) after he returned to the scoresheet at Malaga, while Dimitri Payet makes the cut having made an immediate impression from the bench with an assist to earn Marseille a win over Toulouse.
